    A Driveway Done Properly

A driveway takes more weight, more often, than any other surface on a property. It also has a set of rules attached to it that most other work does not — the section between your boundary and the road is in the council’s corridor, and cutting into it needs approval before anyone turns up with a saw.

We lay driveways, footpaths and vehicle crossings across Auckland, and we handle the approval, the traffic management and the inspections that go with the crossing work. Concrete goes down at the right depth, over the right base, with reinforcement and control joints where they belong.

    Vehicle Crossings

    Consent, Cones And Compliance.

The crossing between your property and the road belongs to the road corridor, so it has to be approved before work starts and inspected once it is done. Getting that wrong means reinstating it at your cost.
We prepare the application, arrange the traffic management, build to the council's standard detail and see the inspection through.

    What the crossing work covers:

    • Vehicle crossing application and approval
    • Traffic management plan and set-up
    • Saw cutting and kerb removal
    • Base preparation and compaction
    • Crossing poured to council specification
    • Footpath reinstatement
    • Final inspection and sign-off

Approval timeframes sit with the council, so it pays to start this well before you want the concrete poured.

    Driveways, Paths and Hardstands

The Base Decides How Long It Lasts.

Cracked driveways almost always failed underneath. Concrete laid thin, over a base that was never compacted, will crack no matter how good the finish looked on the day.
We build the base properly, reinforce the slab and set control joints so the concrete cracks where we decided rather than where it wants to.

    Surfaces we lay:

    • Plain and broom finished concrete
    • Exposed aggregate
    • Coloured and stencilled concrete
    • Paved and cobbled driveways
    • Chip seal and asphalt
    • Paths, patios and hardstands
    • Parking bays and turning areas

Concrete needs curing time before it takes a vehicle — we will tell you the date you can park on it.

    Excavation, Drainage and Kerbing

Somewhere For The Water To Go.

A new hard surface is a new area that sheds water, and it has to go somewhere other than into your garage or your neighbour's section. Drainage is part of the job, not an extra.
We handle the digging, the fill, the falls and the channels, and we cart the spoil away rather than leaving it in a pile on the lawn.

    Groundwork we handle:

    • Excavation and spoil removal
    • Hardfill supply and compaction
    • Channel and sump drains
    • Soakage and stormwater connections
    • Kerbing and edge restraints
    • Retaining and level changes
    • Site reinstatement and topsoil

Existing surfaces are broken out and removed as part of the quote — no separate disposal bill afterwards.

The team turned up when they said they would and kept us in the loop the whole way through. The kitchen looks better than we pictured it and the job wrapped up two days ahead of the quoted date. Could not fault them at all.

We had water damage through the back of the house and needed it sorted quickly for insurance. Having one point of contact meant we were not chasing five different trades, and every update came through without us asking.

Had insulation, extractor fans and a heat pump put into two rentals to get them compliant. Clear quote up front, no surprises on the final invoice, and both properties passed the follow up inspection without any issues.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have home renovation builders in Auckland?

Yes. Affordable Homes has experienced builders who specialise in commercial and residential house renovations in Auckland. We are familiar with the local building codes and have completed hundreds of successful projects across the region. Regardless of where you are based, we can complete your remodel on time and within budget.

Do you service other locations outside of Auckland?

We work nationwide. Tell us where the property is when you enquire and we will confirm the nearest crew and what the timing looks like.

How do I choose the best renovation companies in Auckland and throughout New Zealand?

Look for a licensed building practitioner, a written quote that itemises the work, proof of insurance, and references from recent jobs of a similar size. We are happy to provide all four before you commit to anything.

Will my renovation project require building consent?

It depends on the work. Structural changes, plumbing and drainage alterations and most additions need consent; cosmetic work usually does not. We assess this during the site visit and handle the application for you where one is required.

    Arrears Management

For managed properties we handle arrears follow up on your behalf, with clear written records of every contact made.

    Regular Inspections

Scheduled property inspections with a photographic report after each visit, so you always know the current condition of the building.
